Today is our last day off this week we decided we would hit the trails with Cosmo. Right across from the campground is a trail that takes you back to a lot of different little trails. We walked up to the trail head though because we needed a map. These trails are multi use which means horses, hikers and bikers can go on them. We started our hike on the Wildcat Trail that will take us to the North Trail this is the main trail that run into all the other little trails. About 1.5 miles in we see another trail that leads down into the woods more called the Turkey Bluff Trail off we go. At the start of the Turkey Bluff Trail Todd found a rubber ducky stuck in a tree lol.. maybe it was from a scavenger hunt and it was never found it is in one of the pictures lol… Not even on this trail long at all we see a more challenging trail heading down hill with bedrock on it Todd loves these kind of trails so down we head.
This trail is an un named trail and it is not on the map so we do not know where this leads of what is down there. It is a pretty steep hill down and if it a one way trail we will be back up this steep hill later hopefully it is not. About 1.5 miles and we made it to the bottom and we see water it is part of the green river lake. We continue walking hoping that the trail will take us back up the other side we get to the waters edge there is water in front of us and on either side steep steep hills that we are not going up. Guess we are heading back the way we came. I think the up the hill is a lot worse then down hill Todd thinks the other way around Cosmo is loving this hike. Right before we got to the top Todd stops me and points at the ground, I could not see anything so I got closer HOLY COW…. this frog decided to jump and scared the crap out of me I have a pictures of the cute little thing. We are at the top now do we continue on the Turkey Bluff Trail or do we go back…. we will push on that was to short of a hike lol…
The Turkey Bluff Trail is about 1.5 miles down to the Rocky Bluff Spur to an scenic overlook. Walking long on the left side of us is the Green River Lake it is very cool but since the trees still have their leaves you can not get a really good view of the lake. I am sure once the leaves start falling this hike will be really scenic. We are not seeing any wild animals we think because this trail is so widely used that they will not come out. I was hoping to see some deer this time since I have my camera and I could get a really good picture of it. Seeing some pretty flowers, some tree’s leaves are already changing and the colors are beautiful. We are at the end of the Turkey Bluff Trail and we see the Rocky Bluff Spur. We check the map to see the level of challenge for that trail it is hard lots of up and down and we have Cosmo with us so we are going to save this trail for a day that we do not have a puppy with us.
Back on the North trail that hikes you back around to the trail head. This trail seems really short because it is a straight really easy walk mostly red clay you can see all the millions of horse prints and #2 so you have to watch where you are going. Almost to the end and we hear a turkey… We could not see it but we could hear it moving and hear it gobbling I wish I could have gotten a good picture of it. We do not have to walk all the way to the beginning of the trail head because there is a trail start right across from our campground so we get to take a short cut out. 5.5 miles later and we are finished. Cosmo had energy for days he hiked 5.5 miles with us and he still have energy out the wooza…… He is a really great hiker but once we walked in the door he ate some food drank lots of water now he is all sacked out.
